Ola and I reflect on our previous discussions about men’s mental health, emphasizing the importance of vulnerability and safe spaces. Ola's understanding of his father's experiences offers profound insights into male identity, shaping our conversation around the upcoming event's activities, including guided meditation, bonding games, and impactful speakers.

Is fear simply an immediate reaction, or is there more beneath the surface? In this episode, we unravel the complex relationship between emotions and feelings, using vivid examples to illustrate how past experiences shape our emotional responses. 

We explore the cultural influences on our emotions, such as the fear of black cats in Yoruba culture, and discuss how mindful questioning can help reduce the intensity of these ingrained narratives. By recognizing these influences, we can achieve a more balanced emotional approach.

Emotions often manifest physically, and understanding this connection is key. We share personal stories about how stress, anger, and anxiety affect the body and discuss techniques for managing these feelings. 

Drawing from "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz, we highlight the importance of self-awareness and offer tools for navigating emotions within the context of gender roles. 

Finally, I opened up about my journey as a survivor of suicide attempts, emphasizing the power of love and support.
