Mercedes Maidana was one of the world’s best big-wave surfers, until the head injury that swept away the life she knew. She had become obsessed with chasing the big waves. It gave her a buzz. Each time she went out surfing she would risk more and more. Until one day, it all went wrong.
Raised as a city girl in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she travelled to Brazil after having her heart broken by the man she loved. There she discovered surfing and a new passion arose.

But one day a tragic accident changed her life forever. 

"I lost everything in my life, she lost my career. I  lost my health. I got divorced. I  lost all my money. I even lost my dog."
