Belarus’s secret role in funnelling migrants into the EU

Belarus’s President, Alexander Lukashenko, has just won another landside election in a result the EU is labelling a sham. The man known as Europe’s last dictator has been accused of trafficking Middle-Eastern migrants into neighbouring Poland and Lithuania, creating crises at the borders. Lukashenko has denied his government’s involvement, but an investigation by Politico has uncovered evidence which shows how the President has weaponised migration as a tool in his positioning between the EU and Russia.
