This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info… Just the facts… for Monday March 23rd, 2020. 

The National Guard has been activated and Federal disaster declarations announced for California, New York and Washington. Providing additional assistance for those states. New York State now has about 5% of all global cases according to The New York Times. New Jersey has passed California and Washington in number of diagnoses. They join Ohio, Louisiana and Delaware join 4 other states in issuing a stay at home order that effects more than 100 million U.S. residents.   Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19, 4 other Senators are in self-quarantine. The U.S. has more than 35,000 cases.  The 3rd most in the world, behind China and Italy.

75 districts across India have issued movement restrictions until March 31st, affecting more than 750 million residents. German Chancellor Merkel is in quarantine, after coming in contact with a doctor who tested positive for the virus. Spain has extended their State of Emergency for an additional 15 days. The UK has recommended that residents with serious health problems quarantine for 12 weeks. New Zealand will move to a level 4 alert on Wednesday, closing schools and non-essential businesses and asking residents to stay at home. Australia has closed non-essential businesses and asks residents to avoid domestic travel.
